12.1.1 Update will not install

I have already installed update 12.1.0 and had no problems. I just
downloaded 12.1.1 and attempted to install. The installed keeps failing and
the reason is that it says my hard drive is not able to have it installed.
A back up drive is able to have it installed though. The backup drive has a
clone of my hard drive, so why can't my I install it on my regular drive.
If anyone has an idea of why this won't work that would be great.

It has to be some permissions issue. I would first run Repair Permissions on
your drive.

Have you tried dragging the installed copy from your clone back to your
regular drive?

It's a bug in the software update version of the installer. If you
download the stand-alone updater from Microsoft, it'll install properly.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried that as well and I still get this
error:

³You cannot install Office 2008 12.1.1 Update on this volume. A version of
the software required to install this update was not found on this volume.²

I then thought that maybe there was some install bug that was caused because
I have three other external hard drives connected. So I removed them but
the problem still continues. Any other suggestions?

Try the combo updater from Apple. Sometimes this fixes odd problems like
this. If that does not work, Follow the 10 steps listed here:

In case the above link does not work:

Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re applying‹no need
to roll back or do a clean install.
