2.5 hrs on ph w/ MS Tech Supprt failed to solve

I am using Win XP & Outlook 2002. Every command in
Outlook takes 45 seconds or more to execute & consumes
100 % of CPU for that time. I spent 2.5 hrs on ph w/ paid
MS Tech Support & failed to find the problem. We did
several things, none of them removing and then adding
back Outlook. They have elevated or escalated the problem
to a higher level, but the callback won't be for 2-3
days, & I don't want to wait. Should I try to Remove &
then Add Outlook using the Control Panel?

I presume the tech had you uncheck the option to use instant messaging in
Outlook? Tools->Options->Other, at the bottom.
