2002 .mde work with 2k?

I've got a 2000 .mdb that needs to become an .mde. But
I've got Access 2002, and 2002 will not turn a 2000 .mdb
into an .mde. According to the KB, any .mdb database must
be in the format of your installed version to be turned
into an .mde.

Question: I know Access 2000 and 2002 are the same at
their core. But if I pull the .mdb into 2002 format, then
make it a 2002 .mde, will a user with Access 2000 still
be able to use it?

Thanks...

No, Ken, whether it's an MDE or MDB file, Access 2000 cannot open/run an
Access 2002 database.

No, they won't. If you must have an MDE file, you're going to have to try
and find a copy of Access 2000.
