2002 update to SP3: personal settings gone!

After doing a web update to Outlook 2002 SP3, my settings
have been lost. I looked around these forums and it looks
like people are saying outlook.pst is the personal
settings file, so I searched. There is one for each XP
Pro user. Mine is has tons of stuff in it and sure enough
the one corresponding to my username has > 180,000 bytes -
so that must be it. How do I get the new Outlook
installation to load it?

Thanks, John

btw, isn't it a good idea to save this file on another
device "just in case?" Is there a feature that does it
inside outlook or should I do it manually?

File>Open>Outlook Data File. Make it your default delivery location again.

I applied SP3, just like many people, and never saw this side effect. I
wonder why some do.

You bet.

Outlook doesn't come with that feature bundled, but you can download
PFBACKUP from Microsoft.

Manually also works well, but don't forget to close Outlook first.
