2004 edition: newbie help on option "request responses"

He everyone,
I'm not only new to Office 2004 (as are most of us, except the beta
testers), I'm new to Entourage. I've always used other things, but the
Project Center got me. Now I have a huge amount of learning to catch up on.
But no time - being on deadline for Monday for one project, and in about 10
days for another one.

Here's the question.
When you open a new calendar event box, there's a drop down options list
that always has "request responses" checked.

Now, how do I set it so that it won't be checked?
Other than unchecking it every time? (which is time consuming)

I use Office 04 on 2 Macs, and work alone. I've heard about the functions of
Exchange servers, etc, but don't have or need one.

I'd like to turn off anything that requests any kind of response or action
from anyone but myself. If I need help from someone, I¹ll send them an
e-mail or write to a newsgroup. ;-)

Another of those things related to other people connecting to my info: the
warning that pops up when I change something in a calendar event - says
something about the people invited. I don't have anyone to invite to
anything. Well, at least not in this context. ;-)

Thanks ya¹ll,
neva

Basically, if you never send an invitation to anyone else about a calendar
event, you don't need to worry about any of this stuff. No need to uncheck
that option.

I'm not sure how to turn off the warning about people invited, though.

Well, as neva said, it pops up a stupid dialog box when he changes
something in a calendar event. The same happens to me. But I NEVER
request a response. This is annoying and interrupts the work flow to
say the least.

I've been watching for a reply here for a couple of months. Does the
lack of a response mean there is no solution to this problem?

What problem? Please quote relevant parts of previous messages in the thread
so we know what you are talking about.

Sorry that doesn't look good, but I don't know how to quote neva in a
reply to someone else.

I believe this is the same issue as in

http://groups-beta.google.com/group..._frm/thread/0e4174f422aab56c/2eaf68e64d9a3bad
which is also apparently unresolved.

I find that all my Calendar events have "Request Response" checked,
though I never checked, chose, or wanted that. I only notice it when I
change an event. When I save the change, I get a dialog stating "You
have made changes to this invitation. If the organizer sends an updated
meeting, your changes will be lost." But ALL the events were created by
me, and NO ONE sent or received any invitations. There is in fact no
one to request a response from. I'm running Entourage 2004 standalone
on my Mac at home. (PM G5 with 10.3.7)

If I deselect Event | Request Responses after making the change, I
don't get the dialog. Apparently I have to deselect it every time I
make a change to an event - AFTER I make the change. If I uncheck it
before making the change, the deselection doesn't hold, Request
Responses is selected again wihout my action or consent, and the dialog
appears. Obviously, it's easier just to click OK in the dialog than to
bother with unchecking Request Responses, but it's just so aggravating
that Entourage seems to have decided that my wishes and selections
don't matter and it will display the dialog if it darn well pleases -
which it does.

I cannot find any Preference that seems to cause this. I cannot find
anything in Entourage Help, on the Microsoft site, at the Entourage
Help Page, or (so far) here that addresses it. What am I missing here?

Btw, Request Responses seems to be available only when the event is
open. That is, if I merely have an event selected in the Calendar or a
Calendar view, there is no Event menu.
