2004 - GAL and Public Calendars

I just downloaded and installed the Test Drive. This new version is
basically the same as v.X. I still do not have a Global Address List
nor can I access the public calendars in the Public Folders. What kind
of POS update is this? Is there a way to add these "features" that I
am unaware of? Grr.

Entourage 2004 does not support public calendars in Exchange public folders.
You should be able to access your GAL (GCL) through Directory Services. How
do you have your Exchange account configured?

I saw the ability to search through the GAL in directory services, but
why should I have to open esentially another program to find an
address. What if I don't know their full name. There should be a list
that can be browsed. Also, why the hell did they not include the
public calendars? Maybe Apple will release something that works. They
usually do.

You don't have to. Just type the name in the To field in a new message and
click the Check Names button (or use the shortcut Cmd-Ctrl-C)

I had the same issue and still don't have the right LDAP settings.

In our environment the Public folder and free busy are one and the same.
But the server name was not one I was familiar with.

I asked the Exchange Admin over the phone and got some bogus answer.

When I presented a list of questions in person and had them pull up the
information, I got the info I was looking for, including the name of the
LDAP server. The Exchange Admin swore the port was the default port but did
not know for sure. I am positive some net admin set it to an odd port
number.

So ask specfically what is the name of the server that the public folders
reside on. Once you get them calendar free busy should work.

Sent using the Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac Test Drive.

I know you can click on check names, but I would like to see a list
EXACTLY like that of Outlook 2003 on the PC that you can browse. You
know, external recipents have the globe by their name, the groups are
in bold, etc. Yeah, you can search the GAL, but big deal. That doesn't
help much. We are actually thinking of using OL2k3 thought a Citrix
client and scrapping Entourage all together unless M$ gets off their
ass. I even heard a story on NPN this morning about how lame it is.
*sigh*

Sounds like that might work out best for you. As you point out, Entourage
cannot browse the GAL. Though honestly, I've yet to find a person who
actually finds addresses solely through browsing. Mostly they type a few
letters to search, or they choose a filter from the popup.
