24 hour working

Doug

I'm presently trying to set up a normal shift-working
pattern to include dayshift and nightshift how do you do
this. Project doesn't seem to recognise a shift working
pattern from 19:00hrs to 00:00 and from 00:00hrs to
07:00hrs.
I keep getting the message "Start of shift must be later
than end of previous shift".
Timescale is set in hours.

Hello Doug,
Try in the reverse order :
From 00:00hrs to 07:00hrs and from 19:00hrs to 00:00 .
Tell us if it works!

Adding a note to Gerard's answer. The hours you enter for the shifts are
the hours on that wokday. If your first shift of the week come in on Monday
night, the hours on Monday would be 19:00 - 00:00. The hours on Tuesday
would be 00:00-07:00 (the Tueday morning portion of the shift that began Mon
night) and 19:00-00:00 (the Tuesday night portion of the shift that goes
home Wed morning). Don't forget to take into account the lunch period - not
explictly listing it in the time blocks means that 1/2 hour or 1 hour period
is counting as paid and productive working time in your work and cost
estimates even though it is, in fact, nether. That error will accumulate
over the course of the project and throw your work and budget estimates way
off.

Oooh, that's sweet. Thanks. I was recently trying to figure out the same
thing, but hadn't gotten back to it.
