i am so annoyed. when the computer was bought it came with microsoft office
2003 trial addition. this has run out now as it only lasts 60 days. i cannot
use all the programs and i am asked for a 25-product key. why should you have
to pay for the programs? i just want the normal 2003 programs to use at home.
help!

what part of "trial edition" do you not understand?

It's a tease, to get you hooked, so you will pay for the full version. Pay
up or find an alternative.

When you bought the computer, you didn't pay for MS Office.. the vendor
included it to give more 'apparent' added value.. so you used it for 60 days
and gotten warnings about how long was left before you had to buy it or
not..

So what is your actual problem?

The proper alternative is the free office suite: Open Office.
It will open all your M$ documents, btw.

Oh gawds. Another blonde bint ranting because she didn't check what she was
buying. Your fault, love, no-one else's.

office 2003 trial addition.

The word is *edition*.

this has run out now as it only lasts 60

Yes it does.

i cannot use all the programs

Yes and you would have known that for the past 10 days as it counts down the
time to expiry.

and i am asked for a 25-product

Yes, that's right, dear, you now have to *buy* it.

why should you have to pay for the programs?

Because that's the way things work, lovey.

i just want the
normal 2003 programs to use at home.

So convert the trial then! I fail to see the problem.

so, a for profit company that lets you use it's product during a trial period
should give that product to you for free if you want to continue to use it?

Did you buy the PC on the basis that it contained MS Office, but you only got the Trial version? Seek legal advice.

You don't know that. It may have been advertised as having
MS Office included (by a dodgy dealer, granted).

Forget the lawyer.

I meant from a Small Claims Court, where the advice is usually free.

What the OP needs to do is to look over his receipt. People do not always
pay close attention to what they are buying. They get stars in their eyes
and all they can think of is that they will have this new, shiny computer
and they really aren't paying attention to what they are getting.

Yes, that is true, and could be the situation here as well.

I used to sell computers. I know first hand that people don't pay attention
to what's going on. I'd try to make sure they knew *exactly* what they were
getting but not all salespeople do that. It never ceased to amaze me how
people would basically open their wallet and close their eyes.
