I'm helping a friend out with his Mac, and he is running Mac OS X
10.2.8 and using Microsoft Entourage v. X 10.1.6. Everytime he goes to
check his Roadrunner account, he gets the "specified server could not
be found" error -3170. I've read up on different sites, and here's what
I've done for him:
* I've recreated the mail account per Roadrunner's instructions on
their web site.
* I've reinstalled the Office update to make sure he is running the
latest version.
* I've read up on this group and I have turned off automatically
checking names when sending messages.
* I have removed Bigfoot & 411 from directory services.
* I've typed in the IP address for his pop server rather than using the
name.
* I've pinged the pop server and I know it's up and running (0% packet
loss).
* I was able to successfully set up his email client using the
Macintosh mail client, so I know his user name & password are correct.
Does anyone have any other ideas? In particular, any NC.RR.COM people
out there using Entourage?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
