3259 Error - Outgoing Mailserver Problem

Mac OSX v.10.3.9
Entourage 2004 v.11.2.1

I have read through all of the posts regarding this particular error
and few of them are answered--those that are with sketchy guesses. I'm
hoping someone may have an idea.

I have recently setup a home network and it seems to work fine,
Entourage receives email fine over it. However when I send mail, it
returns the Error 3259 "An operation on the server timed out. The
server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic."

I have a number of email accounts and so have tried using all four of
my different outgoing mailservers. All of them return the same message.

Here's the weird thing: I live in an apartment complex with a wireless
network in the lobby for tenants. When I go down there, using any or
all of the outgoing mailservers, Entourage sends mail fine on their
network, which, since they have a contract with Bellsouth allowing only
Bellsouth DSL in the building, is the same service provider as mine.

I'm guessing ultimately this may be a problem with Entourage talking to
my service provider or Entourage engaging with my wireless router
settings (though this seems weird and unlikely), other apps send the
mail fine over the home network connection with the very settings that
fail in Entourage. I've been trying to figure this out for three days
now, and have absolutely no more places to turn. The only thing I can
think of is: abandon Entourage for Thunderbird or Mail which is having
no problem sending my mail on my normal outgoing mailservers.

Does anyone see another fix???

Thanks,

Jeff Parker
