4.5.3 Too Many Recipients; Error 5452

Marcus Wagstaff

I recently began getting this message when I try to send a message to
about ten or more recipients. I've looked though the help files and
these posts, but I've found no information. I'm stuck.

Can anyone shed some light on what this error is and how to correct it?

Thanks a bunch.

Entourage sets no limit on the number of recipients. It could be that your
ISP limits the number of recipients as an anti-spam measure. Many do, but
the limit is usually up around the 50 mark. 10 seems very low.

However, that is where I would check first.

This happened to me last week for the first time, "Too Many
Reciipients; Error 5452." The somewhat ungrammatical explanation from
Comcast was "To prevent users from sending Spam, restrictions have
been placed on how emails that can be sent" and outgoing messages are
now limited to 100 recipients, including cc and bcc. In addition, only
20 outgoing messages can be sent per connection, or "Send." I
downloaded and installed the Split Recipients X script, but continue
to have the problem.

Barry -

Thanks much for your help. That was exactly the issue! I've got it
worked out with the ISP.

Have a great week.

"Limit of 100" may actually mean 99, especially for an ungrammatical ISP.
Try 99. And, obviously, you can't send to more than 2000 recipients since
they will only allow 20 messages (or 19) with 99-100 recipients each.

Thanks, Paul. I had tried 99 names, even 20, with no luck. I've got
200+ names, so the limit per connection wouldn't be a problem. I'm
about ready to give up and just manually split the list!
