4GB database limit

Hi All,

I've read through all threads on this site about a 4 GB Database limit. My
email has exceeded this & I cannot open it regardless of rebuilding the
database. I had no warnings that there was a limit & if I cannot open it I am
pretty much screwed as it contains all of my contacts plus diary plus emails.

I noted on one of the threads someone pointed out that there may be a
patch coming soon - can anyone confirm if this is correct or do I need to
just bin it & get on without my lifes work!

Not a patch - a new version of Entourage. If you just hang on until the end
of May, Office 2004 will be released and you cna upgrade (see MacTopia for
upgrade prices). Dave Cortright said here yesterday that the new version has
no size limit - just a limit of 1 million items in the database. I'm sure
you're far, far below that. So when you upgrade, the new version should be
able to open your database and rebuild it as needed. In the meantime, you'll
just have to make a new identity. (If you rename the identity folder in
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X Identities/Main Identity) to
something other than "Main Identity", or move it out of the Office X
Identities folder, you should get a new Main Identity which you can rename
to anything you want, then move the other folder back to Office X Identities
and wait for Entourage 2004 when you can import it.)
