I have a remote user who is getting this message no matter
which account he uses to send an email. He has multiple
POP3 accounts (ISP, etc.) that he is trying to use. He
gets this error even on messages he tries to send from one
account to the other. I'm sure it has something to do
with his email settings, but would appreciate any advice
on where to start looking.

The user needs to turn on authentication to his outgoing server. He can do
so on the "Outgoing Server" tab for his mail accounts.
