64-bit Office 2007

It would be very nice if Office 2007 had a 64-bit version. There are so many
other versions, why not a 64-bit one?

Correct, there are Office Basic, Office Standard, Office Home and Student,
Office Small Business, Office Professional, Office Professional Plus, Office
Enterprise, Office Ultimate. Why not Office Professional or Ultimate 64-bit
too?

IMO, there aren't the versions for 64-Bit because it's not fincancially
(revenue wise) feasible for them to offer it.

All those editions are essentially the same programs just packaged
differently. Creating a 64-bit version is a much bigger endeavor than
just packaging a number of 32-bit programs differently.
MS decided not to do a 64-bit version for 2007.

Patrick, presumably a decision has been taken already about the next release
of Office. I imagine most users will still be 32-bit, but would expect a
64-bit version also. Are you aware of any decisions taken on this?

Hi Peter,

Until it's a released product the 'next version' and what it may contain will remain only conceptual ideas :) It's probably a year
or two out for the next version.

Althought maybe not "financially feasible", what isn't financially feasible
for the high end user is for it to crash when running on a 64 bit machine
everytime I have a CAD programs running and try to open my email. :)

I'm not a programmer, but could MS make a service pack for the Vista 64 bit
OS that would allow us to designate which programs should run in the 3.25G
RAM and up range and which ones must stay below it? Maybe that would be more
or less work, I don't know, but seems to me like it would solve a lot of my
problems. Mine runs great until I load RAM up with huge solid models and then
open an email or word or excel....CRASH.

The only tru cure that I know of is running two machines on my desk....which
I can't do at this point.

Microsoft ... PLEASE HELP US!!!!!
