accessing & keeping emails synced on the road and in the office.

Could someone tell me if this is apparenttly simple fix has any holes
in it.

I take an ibook on the road for business, in order to be able to get
emails and keep them synced/current on both the ibook and my macpro in
the office I have engaged the 'allow online access" option under
account settings. Am I correct that this wll simply keep all incoming
emails on the mail server and I can then dowonload them to each
machine as I choose to. if I am missing something or if there is a
better scenario I would appreciate anyone's thoughts.

I'm assuming you have your account set up as POP. If you made them into IMAP
accounts you would all your sent mail available as well. In an IMAP
account, everything is kept on the server.

When you enable online access and click the account name in the Folder List,
you don't actually download the messages from the server onto the computer,
but you view the contents of the POP server directly without modifying it.
That's why you can see the same thing on another computer. However, if you
go to Send & Receive > <the account>, then the messages will be downloaded
and no longer accessible on the other computer.

You might find it convenient to enable the "Leave a copy of this message on
the server" option in Tools > Accounts / <your account> / Options tab on
both machines. Then you can download the message onto both machines, and it
should still stay on the server.
