Accessing the data in a spreadsheet object

I'm new to Front Page, Javascript, XML, ASP and Web page programing in
general so please have mercy on me.

The question I have is - I put a spreadsheet object on a web page for
data input instead of multiple text boxes, to be submited to a search
function.

I understand how to grab the data from the text boxes and send it to
the search function, but how do I grab the data from the spreadsheet
object.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
