Acrobat / Icons

I have two issues that I cannot find an answer for.

1) I have one user who, when receiving email attachments (PDF Files) the
icon appears as a white box. And cannot be opened. This happens regardless
of who created or is sending the attachment.

2) Attachments cannot be opened by double clicking the icon. The user must
drag the attachment to the desktop, launch the program and open the file
from the program/

Hi Stacy,

Here's a couple of things to check. First, does it have a .pdf extension?
If not, depending on the source, it may be confused. Try adding a pdf
extension after you drag to the desktop. Double click on it and see if it
opens then.

Here's how to fix the problem after it is on your desktop. Get info on the
item (command-I) and go to the portion that says "Opens with". Pick the
application you want to handle pdfs (i.e. Acrobat Reader or Preview).
Select "fix all" or "apply to all"--I can't remember the exact wording.
Then close the window and double click on the icon (which should have an
icon now, BTW). It and subsequent pdf files should open in this app.

Report back if something doesn't quite work.
