Ad decimals to existing values?

Hello,

We have a 17,000 row spreadsheed that has a column of dollar values.
Those dollar values show up as 1025 instead of 10.25. I want to b
able to change those without having to retype all 17,000 cells. I hav
tried formatting the cells to currency from general, and all that doe
is change it from 1025 to 1025.00. I've tried different combination
of format cells and the auto decimal place with no avail.

Any insight?

Hi
try the following
- enter the number 100 in an empty cell
- copy this cell (CTRL+C)
- select your 17000 cells
- goto 'Edit - Paste Special' and choose 'Divide' as action

Format the cells to your needs

I gave that a shot, but when I go to paste special, the only option
are text or unicode. Am I doing something wrong?

Lschmitz,
If all the amounts in that column are in the same format
type 100 in a empty cell and copy it
select the range of your dollar values
Edit>Paste Special>
in the Paste Special dialog box check the Divide radio button
Click OK

did you enter the 100 in a blank cell within Excel and copied this
cell. Looks like you have copied this from a different application?

Thanks, that was it. I was highlighting the value in the cell rather
than the cell itself. Thank you all SOOOOO much for your
