Add more space to Hard Disk

I recently formatted the hard disk and created 3 partitions. Now it seems
the primary partition which hosts all the programs and system files is
running short of space. Is there any way I can takesome space off my 3rd
partition (which doesn¹t get used at all) and add it to my primary partition
without losing any data?

Cheers,
Saurabh

It is not possible with standard programs that come with the operating
system. However there are at least two commercial programs intended to
allow you to adjust the size of partitions without losing the contents.
iPartition www.coriolis-systems.com
DiskStudio www.micromat.com ("coming soon")

I have never used either, just read the ads. I hope that these utilities
are bug free, but since one is fairly new and the other has not yet
shipped that may be a poor assumption.

It is a high risk operation -- if there is a power failure part way
through the process you could lose data. So back up all important files
before you start, and invest in a good UPS (battery power supply).
