Adding Contacts to Groups in Address Book

R

Richard E. Lanning

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to add new contacts to two
groups I created in Address Book. If I create a new contact, it will not
display in the group but only in the main window of the Address Book. What
am I missing?

Open the group in its own window, then drag the contact from the main
window to the group window.

If the contact is already created in the address book, just drag it into the
group window. Alternatively, open the group window and just click in the
entry list and a new entry can be typed or pasted in.

To automate this, set up a mail rule with the selection criteria you desire,
and the action of 'add sender to group' (you can specify which group to add
them to). Now, to add the sender of a message to a group manually, create
such a rule but disable it, then when you select a message and manually
apply this rule (from the contextual menu or the 'message' menu) the sender
of that message will be added to your group.
