Adding DVD formats into PPT

I would like to know if anyone has had experience with adding a DVD into a
presentation. Or can you make a dvd format out of a powerpoint presentation?
Using Power Point 2003 on a windows xp pro and xp media systems. Would third
party programs help? or an I pushing the envelope here? Thanks, Dohicky

I'm confused. Are you trying to turn PPT into a DVD, or are you trying to
insert DVD video content into PPT?

yes, you can insert video files. I have been able to insert avi files (a
short movie), but I'm really having a problem inserting a .wmv file. Echo, do
you know how I can convert this to .avi ??

I am confused. It seems that you have two questions at the same time.
1. You want to add a DVD video into a Presentation
That is possible. You can insert a AVI video to a PowerPoint
presentation.
PowerPoint2003-> Insert-> Sounds and Movies -> Movie from file

2. You want to convert a PowerPoint to a video movie(a DVD format) so
that you can burn it to a DVD.
With some third party tools, you can do that.
You can use PPT2DVD
http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com

to convert a powerpoint presentation to a video file in MPEG format
and then burn it to a DVD. This dvd can be played with a DVD player. In
that way, you can view your presentation on TV.

What kind of problem are you having when you try to insert WMVs? Is it all
WMVs or just one in particular?

Part of the reason I ask is because it's highly unusual to have this kind of
problem, and I doubt that converting to AVI will solve the problem.

But you might try Windows Movie Maker. It comes free with Windows XP SP2.
Import the WMV, drag it to the timeline, then File | Save as Movie. Choose
to save to your computer, and then choose DV-AVI in the the "other settings"
drop down. Be prepared -- the file size will probably be a LOT bigger than
the WMV.

You might instead want to give PFCMedia a shot. http://www.pfcmedia.com
There's a free 2-week trial available to try.
