Adding music to section of presentation.

Maria

I have 3 sections in my presentation.Photos with fast music, information
slides with no music and 3rd section is photos with slow music.
1.I've inserted music in the first section successfully but can't insert in
the3rd section. It plays for 2 slides and then carries on but I have a
blackscreen with the sound icon on it and no slides.
2. My information slides are appearing automatically,, even though I've put
'on click' in the add effect- entrance box for timing.
3. Is it possible to preview a section of your presentation without having
to watch the whole thing?
(I'm using Powerpoint 2003)

1. Without knowing what animation settings effect options you used on your
music files, it's hard to help you resolve this. So I'll just suggest you
read Play sounds across multiple slides (A WAV runs through it)
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00047.htm]

2. Do you also have "automatically after XX seconds" selected in the slide
transition settings?

3. As for previewing a section of the presentation, you can use Shift+F5 to
start the presentation from the current slide (the one you're looking at in
normal or have selected in slide sorter view).

Thank you!
I have now sorted the music issue

Good. One down.
but can't sort out the 'no music'
information slides. They still appear automatically instead of on click.
I'm going to Add effect - entrance - Fly in- Timing - start - on click- OK -
delay 0 seconds, and it still goes automatically.

Okay. You're applying animation effects to your slides. Animation effects
are used to animate objects on slides, not to bring in the slides
themselves. For the slides themselves you use slide transitions. Go to Slide
Show/Slide Transition and you'll be in the right place. I bet you have
"automatically 'after xx seconds'" checked there.

You can do the slide transition stuff in slide sorter view, too, so you can
apply the setting to selected slides at the same time. Just select the
slides in slide sorter view and then do the transition setting; it will
apply to only the slides you've selected.
This is the first time I've ever been on an interactive site like this, so
now I'm going to look even more stupid!! I can't see how or where to post a
new question as I did earlier today before I'd been accepted on the site.

Nah, we have a "no stupid" policy in this group. :)

Seriously, you're doing fine. You may not be able to post a new question
because of your popup blocker or something. (Not sure why it would've let
you do it before, though.) Which page are you accessing from? There are a
bunch of different ways to get here, and some seem to be a little more
user-friendly than others, although they should all be pretty similar. What
happens if you click the "new" button? (Click right on the word New.) You
should see a drop-down that gives you the option of Question, Suggestion for
Microsoft, or General Comment.

You have been so much help.

2 more problems
1.have copied presentation to cd which does play on the lap-top, - but with
no sound, i.e. no Music and the music is quite important.
2. Have borrowed a Sanyo pro-x Multimedia projector and have got a blue
screen but don't know how to start presentation so it goes on the wall.

If you're using a laptop, try holding down the Fn key and hitting the key
that has a monitor or screen icon (or says LCD/CRT) on it. (It will be on
your F-key row -- like F6 or F7 or F8.) The computer/projector should toggle
between 3 display states: laptop screen only, projection screen only, and
both laptop screen and projection screen.

If you have the projector manual, it may explain this as well.

This usually doesn't work on a desktop computer. Those usually have to be
set up differently.
