Adding new "Identity" causes Entourage 2004 to quit...

I had successfully setup two Identities on Entourage 2004 (with all updates
applied)
It has worked wonderfully, but today when I went to add a third identity, it
quits Entourage. This happens when launching or after it¹s already open.

What I¹ve done:

1. Tried the same thing in another OS X account (10.3.8)
2. Entourage works fine under a new account.
3. Temporarily removed the ³Microsoft² folder from within
users/me/library/preferences
4. Rebooted
5. Tried again, no luck.

So, what else might I try? It appears that both Identities work fine in and
of themselves, and I can create new identities in another user account.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi, Scott!

Try turning off Office Notifications and also kill the Microsoft Database
Daemon via Activity Monitor (or a simple AppleScript

tell application "Microsoft Database Daemon" to quit

) before going to Switch Identities. What is probably happening is that the
Daemon is not quitting when you go to Switch Identities, as it should, and
there is then a conflict and crash when you create a new identity with its
own database daemon. There can't be more than one open at once. Once you
have the new identity up and running you should be OK switching without
needing to take these precautions.

Hi Paul!

Thanks for the suggestions...I had notifications off, so let me try the
second piece (quitting the daemon) I¹ll let you know what happens.
BTW, saw and replied to your post on the SD! Forum... ;)

Well. I didn¹t have to do either of those things.
All I did was not have any previous Identity selected in the Identity
window, and it allowed me to create a new one.
Odd. Now it doesn¹t do it at all (quit)
I wonder what happened?

Just glad it¹s working now.
