Adding Suffix when sending Attachment

Entourage 11.3.3 with Exchange 2003. When I check "Append File Name
Extensions" the correct suffix is appended (eg .doc) EXCEPT when the
file name already contains a period, eg "report.final" arrives as
"report.final" and not "report.final.doc" Anybody see this and/or have
a work around for this, other than renaming the original document?

Thanks!

Zipping the file should work, but the best option would be to NOT use this
type of naming method. Use an underscore instead. Example: report_final

Thanks, But I referenced this solution in my original post, its sub-
optimal.
My users have been, and want to continue to, name their files that
way.
I want MS to FIX the BUG in their software (if indeed this is a
universal phenomena).

optimal.

Regardless of platform, any file with a period followed by characters is
considered to already have a file extension. Mac OS X's Finder is
"smart" in that if you have choose to hide suffixes then what you're
expecting will work. However, if you've chosen to show suffixes then the
Finder shows the same behavior as Entourage.

Your users are expecting the old-style file type and creator codes
buried in the resource forks of files to tell them the real types of
files instead of using the extensions. Since Mac OS X was released, file
type and creator codes (while supported) have been deprecated in favor
of extensions.

I strongly suggest you follow Diane's advice and change your naming
convention. Your current convention is bound to cause problems,
especially when sending to Windows users.

Hope this helps!
