When entering recipients in a new email, it comes up with an 'Andrew'
Surname which should be 'Andy' Surname. So I go into Address Book where
I discover it already *is* Andy Surname. A search reveals that there is
no Andrew Surname despite its appearance in the email recipient's box.
What on earth is going on?
It means he sent you a message recently as Andrew Surname. The list of
possible recipients includes the Most Recently Used list of 200
correspondents, weighted for recentness and frequency, who are _not_ in your
Address Book, as well as your Address Book contacts. It's a very convenient
feature, I find. For both types, first name, last name and email address are
all candidates, and for contacts nicknames as well.
If there's a particular candidate who keeps getting in your way and which
you want to remove, make a new entry in the Address Book for just that name
and address, and then delete it again or, better, give it the Junk category.
It won't reappear in the MRU list.
