address book & e-mail

I have recently installed Outlook 2002 - when I start to address an e-mail the system does not pick up the name from my address book and finish it - I have checked the setting and they seem to be set properly - also, the addresses from received e-mails are not added to the address book as they were in my previous version of Outlook Express. What might be wrong? Should I take the whole thing out and reinstall

Thanks for any help - a reply to my e-mail address would be helpful

Autocompletion does not use your address book. It uses a cache that is
populated as you actually send messages.

No version of Outlook has ever added email addresses from received messages
to your Contacts Folder automatically, nor would you want it to. The old IMO
mode of Outlook would add recipients from replies you send, but no current
versions do. You can write code to do that if you want.
