Is there a way to have names displayed along with the suffix (Jr, Sr,
etc.) I see a box for the suffix in the contact form, but it displays
in any lists as only 1st and last names.
But it does include title (prefix) and suffix in the "Summary" view. In the
Address Book, press cmd-\ or View/Preview Pane, and the Summary will appear
"below the line" for any contact selected in the list. You'll see title and
suffix as part of the name, and also things like company and department if
they exist for that contact.
Also, why is it when I create a distribution list some names are first
name first, some are last name first. They are all listed correctly in
the individual contact folders.
You'll have to give an example, and take a good look at the First Name/ Last
Name fields for those contacts. What you're calling a "distribution list" -
presumably a Group - can include both contacts who are listed also as
contacts and appear with a "Mr. Blob" contact icon, and non-contacts, which
appear with a blue dot (in 2004 version). The Mr. Blobby contacts appear as
Full Name <
[email protected]>
the Full Name being exactly as they appear in the Address Book list. That
will be "FirstName LastName" when they have both names, or just one name if
they have just one, or Company, if they have no name at all, or the email
address again if they have no name and no company. They never appear with
the Lat Name first: if it seem to be so, then it must be because you either
have the names reversed (last as first, first as last) in their contact
entries, or as a combined run-on "LastName FirstName" listed entirely in the
Last Name or First Name field.
The blue dot non-contact group members appear exactly as you type them in.
If you type the last name first, that's how it will appear. If you include a
name at all, you need to put < > around the email address. You must always
have an email address. You can omit the display name completely and just
type the email address - omitting the < > if you wish (they'll be removed
anyway), and then that's all you'll see - the email address.
