Addressing a record in a subform

I am trying to add multiple records from one form to a subform of another. I am sucessful in adding one record by using forms!forma!forma subform.form!field name, but when I use Docmd.gotorecord acdataform,{subform address},newrec i get an error. i have tried many variations of this which are sucessful in a main form but not a subform. Any ideas?
