adjusting gutter space

I am making a new document 14" wide x 8.5" high with 1/2" margin around
and two columns. I don't want to use the default space that Publisher
uses in the gutter. I have searched for days in the help menu to find
out where to change the gutter space between two (or more)columns.
Thanks in advance for any help

What version of Publisher are you using? In Publisher 2003 at Arrange >
Layout Guides > Grid Guides there's a place to enter the space between
columns. I think that was there in Pub 2002 also.

version 2002.
But, under Arrange/layout guides the only thing that is there is "margin
guides" and "Grid Guides". Under grid guides there is: "columns"
(amount) and "Rows" (amount). Nowhere to put the amount of space between
the columns. It's crazy! Publisher drives me crazy!

Right-click the text-box, format text box, text box tab, columns button, adjust
spacing.

OK...that opened up a whole new bunch of options that I did not know
existed but that does not answer my question.

I am making my initial layout guides. This has nothing to do with text
or art or anything else. Just guides. I have my guides 1/2" (not that it
matters to you...just trying to give you all the information) and the
guides are showing around the outside of my 14" x 8.5" page. I have the
page divided into two columns. The default space between the two columns
is 1/4". I do not want 1/4"! I want an inch so that I have two equal
spaces to work in. Such a simple thing. But, nowhere to change it. In
Pagemaker you can set whatever space you want between an infinate number
of columns. I can work without it. I can just drag ruler guides but it
bothers me that there is nowhere (at least for me) to change that spacing.

Any other clues?

Thank you but that does not answer my question. I know how to print
things as booklets. I thought my question was detailed.

Yes, I think I am stuck with that. I'm used to working with Quark and
Pagemaker. Publisher has gotten better but still lacks lots of stuff.
Thanks to all for the help.

This feature is now available in Publisher 2003. What you could use are the
ruler guides. If you hold down your shift key and drag a green ruler guide
(a thin green ruler guide that is for layout purposes only, it doesn't
print) out from the rulers on the page, you can set those at any distance.
Check out the ruler guide feature in the help system.
