Adjusting to screen sizes

T

Tessa Ford

For ages now, I've designing sites that are suitable for
800 x 600 and never really given it another thought to
users of 1026 x 768 screens. Until lately. One of my
clients has insisted I amend his site to cater for the
bigger size which I have now done.

But when you view it in 800 x 600, it looks terrible.

Is there any way the sites can look great with any screen
size? I do use tables which I thought fixed this problem
but it wouldn't appear that way.

Thanks

Tessa

It all depends on the design of the site, and if can be easily set to % table width that adjust to
different screen resolutions.

I now design with tables set to a fixed 750 pixels, centered on the page, where the site has images,
like product for sale, whereas a site that is mostly text should work well in % based tables, like
my site below.

One of these days, I will get around to redoing my site, and at that time I will switch to fixed
table of 750 pixels.
