Admin install of Office XP now I want to add Frontpage

C

chief.rocker

Hello,
I have installed Office XP from and admin install that had a custom
MST. In the MST I had said that FrontPage and Access were "Not
Available" since we do not want our users using them. Now I would like
to install FrontPage from an admin install, either that install or
another if I need to.
I have tried to run the install using a new MST but every time when run
it I end up with FrontPage still staying Unavailable and it is not
installed.
All suggestions welcomed.
Thanks
Duncan

Hi Duncan,

An MST file only works on new installations of a product.
It mimics the process of you doing a manual installation from the CD.

Do change the feature states use the Custom Maintenance Wizard from the MS Office XP Resource Kit
(http://microsoft.com/office/ork/xp )
The Custom Maintenance Wizard mimics a user making changes to the already installed product through Add/Remove Programs in the
Windows control panel.

Yep, that did it! My situation was a little unique since I am using
Zenworks 6.5 and my users are only members of the users group. I
needed to get the maintwiz.exe to run as a admin user or else it would
fail so here is what I did to get it to complete successfully.
1. Used the Custom Maintenance Wizard to create the CMW file on the
server.
2. Created an application object that did the following.
Run Options/Application - In Path to File- %my path to
maintwiz.exe%
- In Parameters- -c "%path to
..cmw file%" /qb-
Run Options/Environment - Run and Secure System User
I have no progress information but I did add a post launch script to
logoff the user so at least I know it is done.
Run Options/Launch Scripts - Run After Termination -
#c:\windows\system32\shutdown -L

Thanks for your help
