I am using Entourage 2004 Mac. I refer to accounts>advanced sending
options>domain for unqualified addresses.

Can someone please explain what domain for unqualified addresses does.
Please bear in mind that I am not that technical.

Many thanks.

Lets say I'm on a domained named @bozo.com.
If I enter bozo.com as the domain for unqualified addresses, I can then
send an e-mail to just "John.Doe" and it will automatically add the
domain name to send it to [email protected]

Thanks Corentin for your quick reply. Having read the reply various times I
have to admit that I am still in the dark. Can you please explain it any
other way. Maybe today my brain is on strike!

Let's define the difference between a "qualified" and "unqualified" address.

A qualified address includes both the recipient as well as the domain of
the recipient's account:

[email protected]

An unqualified address is just the name of the recipient:

someone

If both you and your recipient belong to the "bozo.com" domain (you have
the same service provider), then you could send "John.Doe" a message and
Entourage would complete the address as "[email protected]".

I doubt this feature is used very much since most folks are use to using
a fully qualified address. It's best used in small private networks and
not for Internet addresses.

Hope this helps!
