Advice on advice given in the other Outlook thread (to: K-MyL)

Since it sunk down to the third page, I didn't think anyone
would see my question, and so I post this here.

K-MyL, you advised me to do this:

STEP 6 => THIS IS THE ERROR
YOUR FILE HAS BEEN SAVED IN YOUR PROFILE DIRECTORY\local
settings\temporary
internet files\OLKXXX\`*.txt

SOLUTION
start RUN cmd
type exactly
attrib -s -h "%userprofile%\local settings\Temporary Internet
Files\desktop.ini"

then

ren "%userprofile%\local settings\Temporary Internet
Files\desktop.ini"
desktop.old

then

explorer "%userprofile%\local settings\Temporary Internet
Files"


locate the OLKXXX folder and go in it, you will find the
txt document you
saved in step 6

I did this. However, when I did the second command, I got
an error saying that Windows could not find 'ren,' and
couldn't perform the action.

I know for a fact that I saved it, although when I searched
for a file that contained a certain word in it that the
revised file had within it, nothing came up.

It might be encrypted in something. Someone else suggested
that it was in personal.pst of Outlook, wherever that is
(Search returned nothing for it)

Any idea what the .tmp file would be named? And with what
would I open it?

NB: "page four" doesn't mean much to people who use a news client - and even
through the web interface, the "page numbers" are going to change as more
gets posted.
You might want to consider using a newsreader like Outlook Express or Forte
Agent rather than the web interface to the newsgroups - it's a lot easier to
do nearly everything there, including searching, which is always a good idea
to do before you post, plus mark threads to be tracked, view replies to your
own message, etc. The Microsoft public news server is msnews.microsoft.com
and you can subscribe to as many groups as you like.
