After 2008 upgrade can't read Sent Items

Sent items are garbbled from the time of upgrading Office 2004 to Office
2008 for Mac. Everything else works fine. We can read all Sent Items through
OWA though. Internet has instances of this issue but only when sending from
an iPhone, which we are not doing. Any suggestions?

Checking for database integrity seems to have fixed any NEW Sent Items,
making them readable. I have not attempted to ŒRebuild¹ the users database
and will not do this at this time. However, the OLD Sent Items, those from
the time of the upgrade to the time of the integrity check, are still
garbbled.
