After SP2, lost all categories in Entourage

Maybe someone can shed some light
Before SP2 office 2004, I had categories assigned to most of my
contacts. (i am attached to an exchange server running SBS 2003)
Now after the SP2 update, although I now have access to the GAL (thx
microsoft, took you enough time though )but have lost all my assigned
categories. The actual categories are all there, but they have lost
their associations with the contacts.
anyone else experience this?
cheers in advance

I did not lose categories but I lost all rule functions which I had 30.
I have recreated them but they still do not work. I recreated all th
categories to see if that would help and it did not.

SP2 has really messed up entourage

If you are upgrading an identity, we should persist the contact items and
the categories associated with them during the upgrade. If you empty cache
on the Exchange account or Exchange Contacts folder or rebuild the database,
it is a known (and by-design at this point) issue that those categories will
be disassociated, as the Exchange server's version does not have those
categories and we will sync them down again from the server.

We are considering category and project synchronization for a future version
of Entourage to limit this problem.

If, on the other hand, you did not do any of the things I mentioned, then it
is probably a bug. If you have a copy of the old identity and re-upgrading
it reproduces the problem, I would be interested in the old identity to see
what the problem is.

If you have a copy of your old identity with (valid) rules -- i.e., not
having rules-corruption issues, that they do work -- and upgrading that
identity results in missing or corrupted rules, I would be interested in
that identity to see why that is the case.

Thinking back on this, I think did. I didn't pay much attention to it
because I thought it had something to do with the way I was syncing my
address books; the Entourage one and my Apple Address Book. I tried syncing
both of the to the exchange server, and in doing so I started to get
duplicate entries. I ended up turning off Address Book syncing to get
things sorted out.
