All of my incoming mail, including mail from people in my address
book, is going into the junk folder. I have junk mail filter set to
low.

See the end of the history in my last post.

Maybe it's the same, a corrupted file. The problem is to identify which one.

If you have new rules or rules modified recently, maybe it's the same as me.

Try to trash the Rules file.

Of course you have to define your rules. For me it's much less annoying than
hundred of spams not filtered.

Go to Tools>Mailing List Manager and see if you have not inadvertently
created a mailing list rule that automatically moves your incoming mail.
Creating such a rule is quite easily done by marking a message as "not junk"
and then selecting the wrong option in the window that shows up immediately
afterwards. If there are MLM rules, disable or delete them and see if that
solves your problem.

Thanks. This application is the worst, as documented by the thousands
of complaints people have posted. I am finding a new mail app.

I'm coming new to this thread, but dod you check to see if there is a rogue
Mailing List Manager entry? These are often accidentally created when
marking mail as 'not junk.

Check the Mailing List Manager (under to tools menu) and delete any entries
that shouldn't be there.

Same problem here, that I have since several months.

After reading theses posts, I just deleted all my rules, and also all the
"secure domain names" in the "exclusive" protection scheme of Entourage.

I just updated to Entourage 11.3.3 running on OS X 10.4.9

However, my own emails go the Junk folder.

Any other leads?

Best regards,

Jigger

You didn't mention if you checked the Mailing List Manager?

Thanks Diane Ross,

I erased the few items in my list managers,
I shut downn Entourage, then rebooted.
I then emailed myself for a test and the mail DID get into my IN box, NOT
the junk mail box.

So, if I understand well, It is now suggested that I start to add back items
to the secure domain names list, list managers and rules, being careful not
to include mails that I already tagged as spam. I will do this progressively
while monitoring the result as to detect any wrong rules. Right?

Yes.

Use the Mailing List Manager (MLM) to
manage Lists. Set the Junk Mail Filter to High, set custom rules.

Remember rules are based on good Address Book management.

Let's say you have no custom rules created. You have a ton of mail in your
Inbox and Junk folder . If it's in your Junk folder then and it's good mail,
select "This is not junk" and add the entry to your Address Book.
[IMPORTANT] Having an up to date Address Book is key to managing your mail
and using rules. Assign a category to every entry in your Address Book. You
can select using command-select to quickly add a lot of entries to one
category.

Select "List" mail in your Inbox. (list mail is mail you get from a mailing
list like the Entourage talk list, Mac-L list etc.) Set all lists with the
Mailing List Manager. Note: The Mailing list Manager is not intended to
handle normal mail.

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/mlm.html>

Select all messages and run "All rules". This will clear out your list mail.

Now that you've cleared out your list mail, let's tackle what's left.

Select the first message left in your Inbox. Can this message be sorted by
a category like Work, Buddy, Family, Announcements, Newsletters? If yes,
then assign a category to the email and set a rule. Categories make adding
new addresses easy. This way if your friend has several addresses, using
category 'friends' will get them all saving you from entering all of their
addresses.

My Buddy Rule:

From is in category Buddy
Is not in a mailing list

Move to folder Buddy
Run AppleScript Play sound (I like to use this action so I can hear when I
get mail from my buddies)

Look through other email in the Inbox and see if there are other emails
there from Buddies. Assign categories to these if you haven't assigned in
your Address Book and run "All Rules". This will move all buddy mail from
your Inbox.

Take the next message, create a rule. Run all rules and see if it works, If
not then adjust the rule so it does work. By doing this you will find the
broken rule as you go.

FWIW, adding domain names isn't fool proof. You can also copy these to
archive by selecting all under Safe domains. If you can find an old backup
you can copy these from the archive.

I suggest adding a rule "from is me". This will get your legitimate mail you
test send to yourself and not the fake spam that is sent from you. I like
the first example. Not many spammers use Entourage as their client. :)

Hope this helps.
