My husband bought a new system for work which included office professional 2003; I had him bring the disks home so I could check it out - you guessed it, I put in the license key like an idiot. (Thought I was running a demo-obviously shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a computer.
Anyhow, how on earth do I get the license keys off my system and placed on my husband's where they belong
He just recently had to compose a disciplinary form at work and can you believe he had to do it in NOTEPAD?!?!?!?
...someone out there - please help me!!!!

If the installation accepted the key (and, being OEM, it would have included
the letters 'OEM' somewhere and it should have refused installation) then
you have 30 days to activate and the software would merely time out after
that (reduced functionality - no saving, printing, editing, etc - basically
it would be just like using a viewer). The licence still belongs to your
husband's system (and always will as it's OEM - Original Equipment
Manufacturer; an OEM licence is non-transferable and cannot be installed on
any other system other than the one it was purchased with, so technically,
you're in violation of the EULA).

Did you "activate" it?

If you didn't, then just un-install it and don't worry
about it. If you activated it, then you may have
problems in the future if you have to re-install it (and
so re-activate it), but again I wouldn't worry about it
until that time. If you do have problems (ie it won't
auto-activate from the internet) you just have to call MS
800 number and explain what happened, they should let you
activate it assuming what you say is true.

I stupidly did the same thing last month with my OEM version, but
activated the product on my 'home' pc before I had done so on my
'work' one, therefore couldn't activate the correct i.e. work one.
Phoned the Microsoft activation line who simply asked me to uninstall
from the incorrect machine and then once done they gave me an
activation code for the correct one. All worked fine and a lot of
embarrassment prevented. Phew

I must have because it is fully functional and I'm removing the whole thing from my machine right now. I tried a 1 800 number for MS prior to posting and I could not get a real person on the phone; I will search for another and try again today-thanks so much for replying.
