Amending the File Open dialog

Jack Sadie

Since upgrading to Word2003 I notice that the "Look in" box in File/Open
dialog always seems to point to the last directory I used. Whilst this is
sometimes convenient, most of the time I want to open files in the specific
directory, "DirName", which I have created to contain my most used files,
with its own
tree substructure.
I therefore wish to ensure that "Look in" always defaults to that given
directory.

Could (or should) this be achieved by modifying the following module already
installed which ensures that the "Files of type" box always shows "All
Files":-

Sub FileOpen()
With Dialogs(wdDialogFileOpen)
..Name = "*.*"
..Show
End With
End Sub

Or should a separate new module be used.

Being not too familiar with the Visual Basic codes, can someone kindly
advise how to do this.
Thanks Jack Sadie

Hi Jack, you can add the following at the beginning of your FileOpen macro:

ChangeFileOpenDirectory Dirname (assuming Dirname is a variable
containing your folder name)
