Ancient duplicate emails!

Hiya all
Does anyone have any idea why I keep receiving dozens of old emails
that I already received, say six months ago? I use Microsoft Entourage
on my Mac. I have opened all emails that I receive, which is over 60 a
day so that change from red to green as being viewed. However, every
week or so I scroll down, as I view in date order only to find dozens
of old emails from months gone, and to make it worse there is usually
two of everything. I have been on to Virgin emails and they have
tinkered with my settings but within weeks the problem reoccurs.
Baffling and very annoying.

Either the database is corrupted (launch Entourage pressing the Option
key down to rebuild), or some messages are corrupted on the server and
keep on popping back.
If it is the later, you need to connect to the server through webmail
for instance to select and delete the messages from there.
