Another IMAP Question

#2 which I just realized (which was not included in my previous post
below).

I can't send email from my test account. I can receive, but not send
except to my own domain. For instance, I can send, from my IMAP
account, to [email protected] but I can't send to [email protected]
(or whatever). I get an error message "sorry, that domain isn't in my
list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)".

What have I done wrong?

Thanks,

John

Entity John B. Williams spoke thus:

Possibly related, I was unable to send IMAP to smtp.mac.com, Earthlink now
has me sending to smptpauth.earthlink.net and it works! In fact, it works
from every ISP I have used since then. The emails show up to the sender like
they were sent from dotMac. Maybe your ISP has a similar feature.

I found my problem. In the IMAP account settings, under 'sending
mail', click on the "advanced sending options" and click "SMPT
requires authentication" and then "use the same settings as
receiving". That did the trick. I found this out from my hosting
company which hosts my domain.

There ya go, there's always an answer somewhere.
