Hi all,
I found some old messages about this, and did try the fixes, but they
didn't work. I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a solution.
This is my husband's computer, running OS 10.3.9 and Entourage 11.2.1
(Entourage 2004). He's got a rule that separates emails related to
MySpace into a MySpace folder and emails that come to a specific email
address into another folder. Unfortunately, all the stuff going to that
email, regardless of whether it was MySpace related or not, goes into
the MySpace folder. After deleting several folders and several rules, I
realized that there's a "hidden" rule that's running and screwing
things up. (Basically, it wants to put emails into the MySpace folder,
which I've deleted, so it gives me an error type -50). The rule doesn't
show up in any of the rules sections (POP, IMAP, Hotmail, etc...). He
claims he never made such a rule, but I'm taking that statement with a
grain of salt.
Anyway, he's got three email accounts coming into Entourage: 2 POP
addresses (one of which is the one with which he's subscribed to
MySpace and upon which he's trying to impose the rules) and one Hotmail
account that doesn't get much use besides advertising. He's got about 8
rules that work just fine.
What I've done:
* Launched Entourage with the Option key held to verify and repair the
database
* Rebuilt database (same method as above)
* Deleted the rules file from the MS identity
* Deleted the rules files from the *old* MS identities (backups)
Any other ideas? If I can't delete the hidden rule, is there another
rule I can write to have Entourage ignore the hidden rule?
Thanks,
Stacey
