Any way to avoid the massive redownload after a database rebuild?

I don't have to rebuild my database very often (maybe 1-2 a year
whenever it starts quitting on me). But when I do, it always
redownloads a few thousand emails into my InBox. This morning, after
having Entourage quit twice, I did a rebuild, and it downloaded 4,323
emails again.

I've learned to remove all my emails from my Inbox before doing a
rebuild. That way I can just delete everything that comes in, and then
replace the the ones I took out. I also take a screenshot of my Main
Identity window, so I can remember which colors I've set in my Folder
list folders. Still, is there any way of turning this off, so it
doesn't do that?

I use Entourage 2004, with all the latest updates. All 8 of my email
accounts are POP, and aside from a GMail, the rest come in through my
host at Dreamhost. I keep my database at around 800 megs in size.

Any ideas would be most helpful. thanks.

Go into the account settings, into the options tab and unselect to
save a copy of each message on the server
