This problem is reproducible between Microsoft Word and
Lotus Notes. However it also happens between Microsoft
Word and Outlook as well.
Something very serious happens and I need to find out some
technical details even code details so I can provide a fix
or neat workaround to prevent these programs from crashing.
------------------------------------------------
PROBLEM 1 (under Windows 2000)
1) We receive a notification in Lotus Notes alerting the
user to new mail that has been received. This is a
dialogue box that is on the screen (from Lotus Notes). At
this stage, do not click 'OK' or 'Open Mail.'.
2) Switch to Word and open a new Word document and go
to 'File' then 'Send To' and select 'Mail Recipient (as
Attachment)'.
3) 'Lotus Notes MailMan Error' message is
displayed, 'Notes Error - This operation is not allowed
while a dialog box is displayed'.
4) Click OK on the first error message, and a new warning
is displayed from Microsoft Word 'Word couldn't send mail
because of MAPI failure: "Unspecified error"'.
------------------------------------------------
PROBLEM 2 - under Windows XP
------------------------------------------------
The problems here are identical and not just specific to
Lotus Notes and Microsoft Word, if you have Outlook open
with a dialogue saying 'New Mail Received' and then switch
to Microsoft Word and click on File > Send as Attachment,
then we experience the same errors.
I would be interested in some code descriptions if anyone
can help explain this issue. This is a problem I need to
resolve asap so any thoughts are welcome.
Thanks,
MA
