Applying a Custom Design Template

I have created a custom Design Template using standard Draw objects and an imported logo. When I go to apply the Design Templete, the custom design appears in the select list and a thumbnail appears (correctly). I click the Apply/Select button, the presentation PPT screen flickers but the Design does not appear but the Help Icon gets a check mark

I can't determine the problem. Help?

When you created your template, did you place your objects and logo on the
slide master or just on the slide itself?
