Applying Themes to Word documents

I apply a theme to a Word2003 document and save it. It will reopen with the
theme applied...but as soon as I try to print then the theme is missing...

I just cant get a theme applied to a document to print...Its making me
crazy!!

Ideas??

Try going to Tools/Options/Print and turning on "Background colors and
images".
