Archive error - "not a valid pst file"?

The error is:

"Error while archiving folder "Calendar" in store "Personal Folders".
The file .../archive.pst is not a personal folders file."

I thought it might be a problem with the length of the path but can't
seem to fix that even if this is the case. Even when I replace the
travelled-to path with an 8.3 one, next time I open O2K it's been
converted to an LFN. So can't tell if this would fix it. Whenever I
have issues when opening files/folders in this and other Office
programs, the 8.3 trick usu. does the job (i.e., if path to default
templates causes problems, usu. using 8.3 vs LFN does the job).

I googled, of course, for help but nothing pertinent came up. Hoping
someone here knows what to do re the above error. TIA.

First thing to try is to run ScanPST.EXE on that PST file to see if anything
bad has happened to it.

Check that the PST is not set to Read-Only.
How large is the PST and which version of Outlook are you using?
lastly, run scanpst.exe on the archive PST.

As Vince says, try SCANPST.EXE. Chances are, though, that if you see this
error, the PST is damaged beyond repair.

Kewl, I didn't know about ScanPst. I found that on my hdd and then
ran it on my archive.pst. It didn't find any errors. Odd.

The weird thing is that this is a brand new installation after an hdd
wipe. So the file itself wouldn't be critical at this point. Don't
know if I did well to do this, but since everything checked out with
the file yet the error was appearing consistently, I decided to just
delete the file. No error message this morning so far and the
archive.pst file has already been re-created so will just hang tight
and see what happens.

Tx! :eek:D
