archive pst question

If I list the archive folders in my folder list, does that negate the
improvements in speed that I get from archiving in the first place? I mean,
if outlook has to open those massive folders anyway, will that still slow it
down, or is it okay because my main pst file is being kept smaller?

Doesnt slow mine down, but then it might depend on size
