At my company we are running Exchange 2007, pc users are on Office 2007, I am testing Office 2008 on my Mac. Have I overlooked it or did Microsoft NOT include the ability to archive old email to the server in 2008 as you have been able to do on PC side for years?????

Entourage does not have all the same capabilities as Outlook. What do
you mean by "archive old email to the server"? If you mean PST files
then that is an Outlook only feature. No other E-mail application uses
PST files.

Hope this helps!

Question, does Entourage 2008 have a capability to "Archive" old mails on a
regular basis as to reduce the size of the "Main Identity" file to a more
manageable size (mine is over 6.2 Gb) and being able to retrieve it as we
used to do in Outlook? If not, could this be a added feature? With Mac Mail
this is not needed since each record/message is an independent file ....

Thanks for any help

Yes, look for 'export' under the file menu.
and being able to retrieve it as we

'as in outlook' - not quite. The .rge file that is generated can be read
back into entourage, but you can't just 'open ' the file in entourage and
have the data go away again when you close it.

You can send feedback to the developers on this issue. Use the last menu
item under the 'Help' menu - "Send Feedback on Entourage". This message will
go directly to the developers. The more people that request this feature the
more likely it is to be implemented.

Thanks for the answers, Barry, final question, does Spotlight index the .rge
files (or does Google Desktop to that effect)????

You know what? I'm not sure. The .rge file is an OS Package, containing
individual files for al messages, events, contacts etc. I'll have to do some
tests to find out.

I have been using outlook archive to create pst files and want to switch to entourage. Is there a way to either read or convert my historical mail into entourage?

Also, when you archive to an entourage file does it remove those messages from the server like the Outlook archive?
