I bought this iMacG4 from "Jerry Hxxxx" last fall. The primary folder (the one with the house icon) has always had his name on it. I used the computer under this primary folder. Last week I made the dumb decision to rename this folder with my name. Once I did that I lost all my Safari bookmarks and all my emails and address book entries. His folder didn't go away, there was just a new one created for me, apparently. But his name still is attached to the "house" icon. I'm wanting to believe that all those emails that I had in that Hopkins folder are still somewhere on this computer. Does this make any sense? Can you tell me if they're still here and how to get at them and import them back into my Entourage application.

Your messages should still be safe in the renamed folder. Because the
account you're using was looking for that folder (and couldn't find it),
Mac OS X simply created a new folder with the same name.

What you want to do is go into the renamed folder and copy the Documents
folder to the /Users/Shared folder.

Then, go into Apple menu --> System Preferences... --> Accounts and
create an account for yourself with what ever name you prefer. Log out
and log in to that new account. Then replace the Documents folder in
your new home folder with the Documents folder from /Users/Shared.

Launch Entourage and it should see your old data under your new account.

Hope this helps!
