Archiving Emails

Katy

I'm wanting to archive a couple of years worth of old emails from entourage
onto CDR. When I drag them to a disc however, they re-arrange themselves
alphabetically. Anyone know how to save them instead by date received
(without having to save each one individually as there are thousands)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Many thanks.

Move them to a single folder in Entourage, then drag that folder to the
desktop - there they will form an MBOX file - an industry standard mail box
format that can be read by many programmes. In this form they are pure ascii
text, so can also be read by a simple text editor as well.

Many thanks Barry.

I tried this but when I open the mbox file with either Text Edit or
Word all i see is a file full of random numbers and letters. Not sure
if this is normal or not, but I would like to be able to read the file
outside of having to import it back to Entourage. Any thoughts?

Thanks again for your help though.

Kind Regards, Katy

Those random numbers and letters are almost certainly binary attachments
that have been encoded into the message source. Not sure how you intent to
'read' attachments that need to be opened in other applications.
